Congratulations graduates! Here's a message from The Department of Chemistry to the Class of 2020!
11 UNC Chemistry students have earned graduate research fellowships from the NSF. The fellowship program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines.
Working across disciplines, UNC-Chapel Hill environmental engineer Orlando Coronell and chemist Frank Leibfarth have developed a filtration resin that has thus far been successful in removing most PFAS from water.
The American Chemical Society awards undergraduates, majoring in chemistry, for their achievements as well as to encourage further study in the field. Four UNC Chemistry students are recipients of the 2020 American Chemical Society Undergraduate Awards:
Two University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill students are recipients of the prestigious Barry Goldwater Scholarship. The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation was established by Congress in 1986 to serve as a living memorial to honor the lifetime work of Senator Barry Goldwater.
Researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill made a one-way street for electrons that may unlock the ability for devices to process ultra-high-speed wireless data and simultaneously harvest energy for power.
The University of North Carolina System announced today that Marcey Waters is a winner of the University of North Carolina System Board of Governors’ Award for Excellence in Teaching. She is the Glen H. Elder Jr. Distinguished Professor of Chemistry.
Commiserating with colleagues over the lack of PPE for health workers, Ed Samulski had an idea: He described a simple way to make a face shield
In response to COVID-19, The Department of Chemistry has plans in place to donate PPE items.
Carolina junior, Francis Lauzier, is pursuing a B.S. in Chemistry, with a focus in biochemistry. Recently, Lauzier presented a poster on Polyethylene Glycol Size and Protein-Complex Stability at the Biophysical Society Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA.
