Alex Zhukhovitskiy, assistant professor of chemistry, is the recipient of the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award. The award recognizes individuals who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department.

Award-winning chemist Frank Leibfarth will deliver the University’s 2021 Winter Commencement address at 2 p.m. Dec. 12., in the Dean E. Smith Center. The Carolina chemist is known for his innovative research in developing synthetic polymers, commonly known as plastics, as well as teaching and mentoring.
