We are excited to share the news that the Biophysical Society has named Dr. Gary J. Pielak a 2024 Fellow! Dr. Pielak is being recognized for his scholarly and extensive biophysical studies on protein structure, stability and dynamics, both in vitro and inside living cells, with particular emphasis on macromolecular crowding. A few of his recent publications on these topics can be found here, here, here, and here. For more about his research, please visit his lab website, here.
The recognition ceremony for this honor will be in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during the 68th Annual Meeting of the Society, February 10-14, 2024. Dr. Pielak will be celebrated along with the other six Fellows in the 2024 class. Biophysical Society Fellows are distinguished Society members who have demonstrated excellence in science and contributed to the success and vitality of the field of biophysics. The award has a prestigious history having existed since 2000, and bestowed on fewer than 200 individuals, including 2016-fellow Professor Nancy L. Thompson, also of UNC Chemistry.
Congratulations to Dr. Pielak!
