FMC Corporation has announced the recipients of the prestigious 2024 FMC New Investigator Award! This award recognizes outstanding early-career professors whose work aligns with FMC’s research objectives. Dr. Sidney Wilkerson-Hill, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, received the award for Synthetic Organic Chemistry. His research aims to develop new reactions to obtain pyrethroids, vital molecules in malaria vector control, with a focus on improving photostability, reducing toxicity to pollinators, and minimizing insect resistance.
These New Investigator Awards, now in their fourth year, not only acknowledge the recipients’ outstanding contributions to their respective fields but also provide them with an unrestricted $50,000 research grant. Dr. Seva Rostovtsev, FMC’s Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, expressed that the program supports innovative approaches addressing challenges in agriculture, paving the way for breakthroughs that will shape the future of scientific research.
