We are pleased to share that Alex Miller, associate professor of chemistry, is the recipient of the 2021 NC-ACS Distinguished Lecture Award.

The Miller Lab’s research revolves around transformations relevant to global energy concerns, including the storage of solar energy in chemical fuels, proton-coupled electron transfer reactions and hydrocarbon transformations. Miller is the co-founder of The Safety Net, a web resource dedicated to sharing lab safety resources and improving communication about safe practices.

The award is given annually to a chemist within the North Carolina section of the American Chemical Society who has made significant and recognized research contributions to the chemical sciences. The awardee receives a monetary award and plaque will serve as the keynote speaker at the annual NC-ACS local section conference this fall.
