Each academic year, the UNC Department of Chemistry recognizes outstanding graduate student teaching assistants with a $750 award, which can be used to supplement the costs of professional development opportunities, tuition or other expenses. This year, these awards are generously funded by the Killian Family Graduate Student Excellence Fund. These awardees were nominated by instructors and selected by the Undergraduate Labs Committee. Some of the highlights from the nominations of the award winners are that they take initiative and exceed expectations, and they are organized, energetic, enthusiastic, supporting, encouraging, and passionate about chemistry education. They are a great asset to the department and to the students that experienced their leadership.
We are happy to announce the following awardees for their work during the 2020-2021 academic year:
- Ben Carpenter
- Supraja Chittari
- Tiffany Crawford
- Karen Ehrhardt
- Melody Kessler
- Cam Worthington
