Open Teaching Position
Applications are invited for a non-tenure track teaching faculty position in the Department of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a starting date of July 1, 2019. This position is envisioned as a long-term appointment for an innovative teacher, with an initial appointment term of four years. Teaching responsibilities will include General Chemistry and General Chemistry Labs, CHEM 101/102 and 101L/102L, and one or more of Inorganic Chemistry, CHEM 251, Organic Chemistry, CHEM 261 and 262, and/or Biochemistry, CHEM 430, as well as additional introductory lab courses congruent with the candidate’s expertise.
Qualified applicants will have expertise in teaching large enrollment courses. Applicants will also be expected to be involved in curriculum development, laboratory course development, serve on committees, and engage in departmental activities outside of teaching. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry. Candidates with postdoctoral experience, demonstrated experience with or a strong interest in innovative and evidence-based teaching methods, and experience in laboratory curriculum development will be considered most competitive.
